Job Services
This is a mandatory work and training program for recipients of Ohio Works
First (OWF) cash assistance and Food Stamps (FS). The goal of the program
is to enhance self-sufficiency through work experience, education, and training
to help individuals gain and retain employment.
The program offers the following:
- Assessment of client interests, skills and abilities by identifying
barriers to employment and establishing a plan of action to achieve goals
- Work Experience Program
- Information on education and training available
- Assistance with substance abuse and other personal barriers
- Child Care - provide subsidy for working families and recruit, train, and
certify providers
- LEAP Program - OWF recipients under the age of 20 without a high school
diploma are offered incentives to attend school.
- Job Search -- attitude adjustment, resume development, interviewing and
telephone skills, as well as working with a job developer, and job coach to
find employment
- Employers may receive tax credit and other funding for hiring recipients
